Condolences

Condolence From: Jim Cory
Condolence: Thinking about Doug a year later. How much I missed him this year and the trips we would take to various architectural and historical sites, Doug at the wheel, me with the map. We had so much fun. His humor was low-key, and his intellect solid and common sensical but never the type to show off in any way. In this long drives we talked about everything. Strange how they came about - from reconnecting with him at a New Year's Eve party when 2010 turned to 2011 - and how important they became. He loved spontaneous changes in plan. He wanted for us to do a long-distance trip, to California, for a week, which I now much regret we didn't do. Missing this guy and his sly wit and phenomenal generosity and decency.

Condolence: Dear Chic and Akeem, I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing, I know what you're going through and how hard it is to bear. It's tough and tearful and unfair, but you'll get through it. Chic, your many years with Doug is a testament to the love, respect and caring you had for each other. Doug was a great guy and a wonderful friend, and possessed of a wickedly fun sense of humor. I remember him chiding Ron Abbott, whom he told, "You'll never buy a washer and dryer, because you won't be able to find any with Queen Anne legs!" Doug always had great stories because he was involved in many different pursuits, and touched a lot of lives. My heart goes out to you both, and to all who knew Doug.

Condolence: Dear Harold, words cannot express how truly sorry I am for you to have lost your loved one. I pray that God keeps you in this difficult time and gives you the strength you need to carry on. I know there will be times when things get hard when you sit and think about the life you lived with Doug, but just know that God has you in his Loving Care when those times of loneliness come. Doug was a very kind-hearted, man. One who was always giving of himself as well as his time. Always doing anything he can to make others smile and beautify other people's lives. My mother-in-law truly loved him and all that he did to brighten her days whether it was planting flowers on her front porch or beautifying her home with the tile on her faux fireplace. Doug will never be forgotten and know that I love you both. He's in good company now resting in the arms of the Lord with no more pain and suffering.
With sincere heartfelt condolences, your friend Sophia.
